Lady Ranger Round Up Week of Feb. 12-16

Week in Review

Wow what a week for Lady Ranger Soccer! In the Span of just five days I think we experienced every emotion possible. From Streak breaking wins to streak continuing losses, it was a beautiful week of soccer, and it's exactly why we all love this game so much.

The JV dropped two games this week to Vandegrift and Round Rock. In both games the JV was competitive and had some wonderful moments of soccer. The games were fast and physical and we will continue to improve, grow and learn from our week.

In Varsity action the Lady Rangers broke an 18 game unbeaten streak to the Lady Vipers of Vandegrift. The last Vista Ridge victory over Vandy was in the 2016-17 Regional Championship game in pks to go to the Final 4 at State. Prior to that Vista Ridge had two District victories over Vandy in the 2011-2012 season. It was only the 4th Victory over Vandegrift in 14 years, and although the score line was 1-0, it was a great performance by the Lady Rangers.

On Friday night, the Lady Rangers traveled to take on the 8th ranked team in State, the Lady Dragons of Round Rock. The Lady Rangers got off to a great start scoring first in the opening minute of the game and then holding the lead for much of the first half. The game ended with the Lady Dragons on top with a score of 4-1 but the score really wasn't indicative of the game. It was a highly competitive, physical, and fast game that the Lady Rangers played and worked their hearts out in. Post match the referee remarked that the game was played at a level that was probably higher than most of the college games he referees. I was super proud of their effort and we look forward to the opportunity to play them again to see how much we will have improved over the next 3 weeks.

Thank you Alfords for hosting the Lady Ranger Varsity Team dinner this week

In the News

It's pretty cool seeing the Lady Rangers recognized for their season so far, but with 3 weeks of District play left, there is still a lot of room for improvement as we pursue our Goal of making the playoffs this year.

District Standings

(after the 1st round of District Play

Round Rock 21 points

Westwood 18 points

Vista Ridge 13 points

Vandegrift 8 points

Stony Point 8 points

McNeil 7 points

Manor 0 points

The next three weeks promises to be a wild ride in our district but if we stay focused on the game in front of us then everything will fall into place.

Final Thoughts

The Winning Difference-

What is the Winning Difference? It's not and never has been the Final score. It's not and never has been the amount of playing time one receives. In fact it's not and never has been how much talent a team or individual has. The winning difference has and always will be the preparation one does to achieve what they really desire.

The winning difference is a measurement of your commitment.

The winning difference is a measurement of your sacrifice

The winning difference is a measurement of your respect.

The winning difference is a measurement of your integrity.

The winning difference is a measurement of your fortitude.

The winning difference is a measurement of your effort.

The winning difference is a measurement of your preparation.

Successful teams and successful people whether in sport, school, work, or life know that success doesn't come from what you are willing to do, but rather what you are willing to do more of.

The extra mile isn't crowded because most people aren't willing to do what it takes to be successful.

As we come to the last round of district I want to encourage all of you to remember this quote from the Great Jerry Rice.

Today, I will do what others won't, so Tomorrow I can do what others can't.

Stay focused. Stay in the moment. Stay prepared. and

Let's Go Lady Rangers!
